As I read up on the article, I do believe many of his ideas are possible; however, the effects of having a microchip install in your brain is still problematic. Having a device implanted in your brain to treat medical disease is nice to in vision; however, I think having the consumer trust will be difficult due to potential harm that is still unknown. But as the years go by, anything is excepted now.”
The MIT Technology Review is a magazine designed to critique technology. The audience magazines are tech enthusiasts. For my article analysis I have chosen one of their recent articles, Elon Musk’s Neurolink is Neuroscience Theather. This critique was written by Antonio Regalado on August 31, 2020. Regalado is a senior editor at said magazine. According to his biography, [he] look[s] for stories about how technology is changing medicine and biomedical research.
In this critique, Regalado uses his writing to inform readers of the faults of Mr. Musk Neurolink presentation. The Neurolink is promised to be a revolutionary medical device. However, in the presentation no concrete evidence is provided. As Regalado expresses, “exponential goals for the technology don’t necessarily address specific medical needs.” Regalado has an almost hostile tone towards Mr. Musk’s presentation. This is mostly due to the fact that Musk seems to be disregarding the medical needs that the device could be used for and rather focused on the technological gain.
Being that this is a review magazine. The genre of the article is criticism. The medium used to display this critique is online magazine.
